Hi, First time user on this site and I'm hoping someone can assist in transcribing this old parish record.

The original text has been basically transcribe as, "Bap: John yee sonne of Nicholas Williamson & Anne his wife was batpized ye 6th Day of May."

However, I can find no record of a Nicholas Williamson or Anne for this period in any other records and nor do I find any other children attributed to them. I have used basic AI to assist, and it it suggest it may read, Bap John soone of Richard….and Alice his wife"

This is my direct family line, so in order to continue any research, I need to clarify this record.

I can't get with the idea that the father's name is "Nicholas". I can see the "ich", but then there only appears to be 3 letters after. "ard" is certainly a possibility - the "r" is confused by a stroke from above, I fear - so I'm sympathetic to the idea that he is Richard.

Where on earth "Williamson" fits in that lot, I can't imagine. The surname is only short so I'm inclined to think "Williamson" is a nonsense. At least, it is short if the "and" is where I think it is.

I can't read his wife at all.

If no-one else comments, you might do better joining the "England Research" group and re-posting there.

I have only read about the following, but it does include English as one of the languages, so it may be worthwhile trying it out.

Thanks. I'd had already stumbled upon this site and this was my result. (Below) As such, I dont see how the original transcriber came up with the surname Williamson?

Since this record is important to you and the image ismso difficult to read, I suggest contacting the originalm repository Norfolk Record office. someone there may be able to read the original easier. https://www.archives.norfolk.gov.uk/

    just a suggestion
