Why does my 2nd times grand uncle not show up on a cemetery in Cemetery Search Tool as relative?
Why does my 2nd times grand uncle not show up on a cemetery in Cemetery Search Tool as relative?
He is listed in the cemetery search tool in the cemetery where he is located. But when I click show just relatives, he is not listed.

Can you provide a screen shot of the issue, or a web page? Thanks

Assuming that you are referring, @Robin Raye Griffis Kiser, to the FamilySearch option Search / Cemeteries, there was at least one extensive thread in this Community shortly after the introduction of that menu option, where we attempted to understand how that facility worked. We failed and no-one from FamilySearch ever responded to the thread.
Basically, it appeared at first glance to be that, in order to appear in the Search / Cemeteries output:
- The person in question had to be in FindAGrave or BillionGraves;
- Their profile had to have that relevant source index record from FindAGrave or BillionGraves attached;
- Their burial event had to be linked to that source record and, as far as I recollect, it had to have the correct place to match the Search / Cemeteries stuff.
But… Even with all that lot in place, some people appeared in Search / Cemeteries and some didn't. I remember setting up a relative who was already in the FS version of FindAGrave with all the appropriate stuff on his profile but nothing appeared in Search / Cemeteries for him.
On that thread, I actually questioned whether the Search / Cemeteries facility was being updated or whether the data had been populated once and then left alone so that no new entries ever appeared. Sadly, no-one with any technical knowledge bothered to respond. This was a shame because the facility is actually really rather nice.
It might be, Robin, that your situation is similar - partial data that's not been completed???

You might want to eliminate the possibility that the profile that is listed in the cemetery search is an unrelated duplicate of your great-grand uncle. You can open that profile by clicking the profile name and then Ctrl+Click the PERSON button on the resulting dialog. Then check whether that profile is the same as the one that you find by navigating from your personal profile up to your uncle (i.e. they have the same profile ID).
If the profile IDs are different, then maybe a merge could be considered.
If the profile IDs are the same, then there is a problem with how the cemeteries search is determining your relationship. In that case, I would suggest that you use the Feedback button at the left side of the burials list screen to report this. You will need to provide the cemetery name, and the name and profile ID of your uncle.
Another possibility is if the profile in the list has already been deleted (i.e. it has already been merged after it was added to the cemetery page). Deleted profiles remain in the list. In that case, the profile would presumably not be related to anybody.
In any case, it would be interesting to know how you get on with this.

@Robin Raye Griffis Kiser I'd like to take a look at the person page for your ancestor. Can you provide a FamilySearch link to his page so I can see why it is not linking to the cemetery?

Here's another scenario that I have found. Is your uncle directly related to you by blood, or was he married to your gg-aunt? I have a blood-related gt-aunt who is buried with her husband. They both appear in the cemeteries search result list, but only my gt-aunt appears when I select "Only show my relatives".

As the user who opened this discussion does not appear to have been active in the community since about 13 September, I thought I would take a further look at the burials of a number of my relatives in a cemetery in my home city. In addition to the one I described in my post on about 17 September, I have found several other cases where my blood-related are listed as "Relatives" but their spouses are not so listed although they are included in the full burials list. Upon reflection, I cannot recall ever seeing any relative-filtered results being described as "Husband of" or "Wife of". So my assumption is that the Cemeteries Search defines relatives as only including blood-related relatives.
