Hello everyone,

I’m researching my great-great-grandfather, Benjamin Stribling Tandy, born in 1849 and died in 1880, buried in Brooks Cemetery in Paluxy, Hood County, Texas. He lived in both Lavaca County and Hood County, and I’m hoping to learn more about his cause of death, family connections, and any surviving records or stories.

So far, I’ve reviewed census records and public trees here and on Ancestry, but most lack sources or documentation. I’m especially interested in:

  • Mentions in local newspapers, church records, or cemetery logs
  • Connections to the Stribling family line in Texas
  • Any references in Stribling and Related Families by Mary Frances Stribling (1967)
  • Clues about his parents, siblings, or descendants

If anyone has researched the Tandy or Stribling families—or has ties to Hood or Lavaca County—I’d be grateful for any insights. Even small details or family stories could help fill in the gaps.

Thank you so much for your time and help!
