England Jurisdiction 1851 - Wiki question

There is a statement on the above Wiki page that I can't figure out - please help! The first section reads as below, but where are the "two blue buttons" and the "Find out here" link that is mentioned?

"England Jurisdictions, 1851 is a powerful Internet based Geographic Information System (GIS) showing parish maps of the 40 counties in England. This mapping system simplifies research by consolidating data from many finding aids into a single searchable repository that can be accessed through the mere click of a mouse in a parish boundary. The program can be accessed here. This is a research tool provided by FamilySearch using Google Maps to visually display maps and information. For tips on using the website, look beneath the two blue buttons on the left side of the home page and click the "Find out here" link.

Are these tips for using the Interactive map website home page? I cannot locate any blue buttons on the left side, or any link beneath the missing blue buttons to click on the link. Please help me understand where this is located…. Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your patience, and I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. It took a little time to track down the correct information.

As others have noted, the 1851 England Jurisdictions map has recently undergone an upgrade and is still being worked on. The blue buttons refer to the previous version of the map, not the updated one. Unfortunately, the related Knowledge Articles haven’t been updated to reflect these changes yet.

I don’t have a timeline for when the articles will be revised, but updates are expected in the future.

ALSO, the Wiki article mentions, under Features that:

"This product generates printable lists for many helpful jurisdictional groupings, such as the following:
    Contiguous parishes
    Parishes within a radius
    Parishes in a county
Parishes in a civil registration district
    Parishes in a hundred
    Parishes in a probate district
    Parishes in a diocese
    Others"

I don't see how to generate a printable list of the parishes in a civil registration district; is this just a future option, or is it available now? Please let me know about this option also. Thanks! Promise this is my last question, maybe….

The wiki page is here. It starts with a hyperlinked "Website link" and then says:

23 May 2025 - The England Jurisdictions Map is being upgraded to new technology. You can access the Improved England Jurisdictions 1851 through FamilySearch Labs.

Then, it goes on to say "The program can be accessed here."

However, the hyperlinked "Website link", the FamilySearch Labs link and the "here" link all appear to take you to the same "improved England Jurisdictions 1851" map. As you say, that map has no blue buttons and no list-printing mechanism that I could find.

It seems to me that the improved map has been rolled out and the wiki has not been updated to reflect this. As to the loss of the blue buttons and the missing printable lists, FamilySearch engineering will have to explain that.

@JulianBrown38 yes, I've been using the website from FamilySearch Labs, and understand it is being upgraded; the printable civil registration district parishes and tips appear to be new features. Maybe they were added to see if anyone is reading the Wiki pages, but their certainly not available yet; the old jurisdiction map listed parishes with a CRD, but were not printable, and the tips sounds like it applies to the upgraded version, but cannot be found. It's one of those things that we'll have to wait for, so just want them to know I'm anxious about it, training others to utilize it, and hope it's coming asap…. Thanks for your note! Maybe I'll flag this one too….

I was wondering much of the same things as noted above in regards to the Options tab. We used to be able to do a radius search. I used that feature a lot. I don't see that under the Options tab today (28 August 2025), even though the Wiki page refers to it.

Agree. The radius search was the main reason I used the old mapps. I rarely use the new one now.

I agree with all of you no blue buttons. I will forward this up the chain to see if it is being looked at.

@MRiley and @Jaelene Starr yes, the radius search has changed; I used the option to do a 5 mile radius search - that has now been replaced with a Measurement feature (looks like a little ruler icon) in the upper left above the jurisdiction search box. If you want "miles" then you'll click on the "measure distance" option and change the Units to "miles". As it describes you can click on a parish to mark the beginning and then move your cursor about 5 miles out and (without clicking again) notice the distance shown as you hover above other parishes in the area. Also, when you begin be sure to click on the Layers feature first; default shows parish and county, but I always like to tick the box for Civil Registration District so the boundaries show on the map also.

But, yes, there are no printable lists, which would be helpful, tips for use, or blue buttons (yet)…. I'm getting more used to it, but it is quite different to navigate compared to the last one. The catalog and wiki link options seem to be in progress as well, so it certainly needs some attention, as it seems it's a low priority at the moment. Thanks for pushing it forward @sc woz - we look forward to seeing some answers.
