    @DebraMaddux That may be difficult as 1883 is the year before a coordinated system was in place. With out the port of departure or entry and name of the ship, it is a matter of luck. I will get back to you with what I can find.

    @DebraMaddux

    You could start with looking up immigration records for Canada in 1883 at FamilySearch Wiki Canada Immigration. You can also search USA records at the National Archives, Immigration records. There are many databases. Another if he came through Ellis Island, is to use the Passenger Arrival List. Try FamilySearch Wiki for US arrivals.

    @DebraMaddux The above are all good sources. Coming from Russia you might want to also try SteveMorse.org. Without knowing where they landed or lived afterward, no matter which source you use it may take time. Having some idea of occupation, church or bible records, family knowledge, census records, wills, obituaries, probates and citizenship records can all give more information. FSLABS can be found on the FamilySearch Main page has all the projects being reviewed for release. One is "FULL TEXT" which gives access to property, probate and wills. There are also some that use AI to help search. Ancestry.com has an immigration search. If you don't have a subscription to Ancestry, you can visit a FamilySearch Center and use it for free. The more specifics you can find the easier it will be. Even Google can be a big help!

    Hi @DebraMaddux.

    Did you know that their son, Alexander, disappeared right before they had to immigrate, but were reunited 17 years later? The article is about halfway down the page of the OCR on this link (~38th paragraph):

    https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/828083489/?match=1&terms=krokynThe article didn't say what the family's immigration path was, although their aim was to come to America. It also implied that the family left together.

    To find the right immigration records, it's helpful to know what names might be on the passenger list. Do you know of any other children born before they immigrated that aren't listed on FamilySearch?

    Here is Harry's profile

    @DebraMaddux, on page 9, here is the local, more detailed article about the reunion:

    https://digitalmaine.com/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=3395&context=courier_gazette

    The article seems to imply there were more children born in Russia, as it said "a large family to support".

    On the 1900 census, it says Harris and Dora were married 28 years, implying a marriage date of 1872. On the 1910 census, it implies a marriage year of 1874 and says they were both previously married. So, it's possible there are other children from previous marriages traveling with them too, but the data could be erroneous.

    By the way, I think this might be Alexander. The place and occupation matches what was in the article: https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/LTPN-7DC

    From Harris' probate record, I saw there was another child, Etta. I believe this is her. She was born in 1875 in Russia and buried in the same cemetery as Harris and Dora.

    Phillip is probably one of the children too, born in 1870. His declaration of intention follows the same journey as the family. I think he may have been Dora's son, later adopted by Harris. He also is buried in the same cemetery as Harris and Dora. His declaration papers said he immigrated to New York on April 15, 1884. The date may not be exact, but I'd guess New York is right, and could rule out Canadian immigration.

    Also, have you checked Ancestry? There's a tree that has some other names that Harris went by. Might be other details/clues there as well.
