Where is Kolu? South-East Asia?

Oral family history tells us an ancestor (and her daughter) fled Russia to China after her husband died 1907. We see these two persons arriving in Vancouver,BC,CAN on 1924.Jun.18 as passengers on RMS Empress of Russia which departed from "Kolu". Wikipedia tells us "Between the wars, Empress of Russia resumed regular trans-Pacific crossings.". I am unable to find a port city named "Kolu". Please help.

@fbax According to Google, Kolu is a village in Türi Parish, Järva County in central Estonia. Kolu railway station on the Tallinn - Viljandi railway line operated by Elron (rail transit) is a short distance from the village. I checked Google further for an RMS Empress of Russia voyage in 1924 to find this link https://www.google.com/search?q=RMS+Empress+of+Russia+which+departed+from+%22Kolu%22+1924&sca_esv=3689d8f87b454a04&sxsrf=AE3TifNqA_szevtxEMJ3OlWwdQWuzvenog%3A1749697076390&ei=NEJKaNvRF8DLkPIPmqD00QI&ved=0ahUKEwjbu8_F8eqNAxXAJUQIHRoQPSoQ4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=RMS+Empress+of+Russia+which+departed+from+%22Kolu%22+1924&gs_lp=Egxnd3Mtd2l6LXNlcnAiNVJNUyBFbXByZXNzIG9mIFJ1c3NpYSB3aGljaCBkZXBhcnRlZCBmcm9tICJLb2x1IiAxOTI0MggQABiABBiiBDIFEAAY7wUyCBAAGIAEGKIEMggQABiABBiiBDIIEAAYgAQYogRI7tIBUPoSWNipAXAFeACQAQCYAWagAd0FqgEDNy4xuAEDyAEA-AEBmAINoAKXBsICCxAAGIAEGLADGKIEwgIFECEYoAHCAgUQIRirApgDAIgGAZAGBZIHBDExLjKgB6kisgcDNi4yuAeEBsIHBTAuOC41yAcl&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

The Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Empress_of_Russia says "she regularly sailed back and forth along the Hong Kong – Shanghai – Nagasaki – Kobe – Yokohama – Vancouver route". So I think you are looking for a city along this route.
Unless you have an image which says the ship departed from Kolu, there is a possibility that somewhere someone has been transcribing a record and incorrectly transcribed Kolu rather than Kobe.
There perhaps also is the possibility that Kolu is the port area of one of the cities mentioned in the Wikipedia wording. If you can find a detailed map, take a look and see if you can see anything relevant.
I don't know about Canadian Shipping records, but I do know that for the British passenger records available on sites such as Ancestry and Findmypast, the port mentioned is where the ship commenced it's voyage, not where the person got on, which can be quite misleading unless you know this, as there could be thousands of miles difference.
