Searching by 'Cause of Death' only

Is it possible to search death records using only the 'cause of death'? For instance, if I wanted to see every person who died from pneumonia in a certain state or county, what are the steps involved?

The cause of death field is not indexed on FamilySearch, and FS does not offer a keyword field search. If the death certificates are in one of the record sets available in the new full-text search project, you might be able to search for a specific cause of death, but I would not rely on the full-text search finding all cases of the word.

If cause-of-death hasn't been indexed (and it usually hasn't) then no, you can't search by cause.

However, there is a "Full Text" search in FamilySearch Labs, and if a collection (or film?) is (a) in that experiment and (b) contains death info such as cause-of-death, then such a search would be possible but only on the collections satisfying those criteria. For instance, there is a Register of Deaths collection for Ohio County, West Virginia, USA, in the experiment which includes the causes and can therefore be searched on.
