I am trying to find where the catholic records would have been kept in 1740'S?

Longkamp, Bernkastel-Wittlich, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The catholic church here was built after 1750. Where would I find Catholic records for this area before this time?

@DanceRaKay1 For locating records in Germany, I always use Meyers Gazette. After putting in the place name you get information for the jurisdictions where different types of records are found. Click on "Ecclesiastical" to see a list of churches and their distance from Longkamp. Click on "Maps" and then in the dropdown list under "Toggle Historical Map" checkmark "Catholic Parishes":
You can then check out which ones have records older than 1750. Some of the towns shown on the map are found on the index to this FamilySearch Film #8108630, Image 7.
Hope this helps.

Ok. I follow you through this - now there is a catholic church in Longkamp but in 1748 there was not. Would there be a specific way to find where these Catholics would have gone or do I have to search all the catholic churches around this area?

@DanceRaKay1 They may have gone to the closest or they may have preferred the clergy somewhere else. Also, are you sure of when the family arrived in Longkamp? They may have come from a neighboring town. The search is often harder than we want it to be.

Thank you. I only know the 2 sons were baptized in Longkamp and that George Schneider was Catholic and his wife was protestant and from Lotzbeuren. Two daughters were baptized in Lotzbeuren and Cleinich. I can't find a marriage or where George was from.

@DanceRaKay1 I suggest you join and post in the Germany Research Group where some very knowledgeable researchers are available to help.

@DanceRaKay1 Yes, my next suggestion would have been to post in the Germany Group. Provide the details of what you already know and ask a specific question. The volunteers in that group generally do not have time to research for you but you will get informed answers to all your questions.
