AI quick name review

Are the images being presented actual indexing projects or is it still purely in "training mode" and the computer is just experimenting on reading as many random names as it can?
Im wondering how useful our time is being spent when there are zero instructions other than "is it a persons name" What is the blue highlight for? What is the orange highlight for? One record blue is the persons christian name, the next it is the surname.
I was given an Australian will to look at. The name it highlighted matched the name it had in the box to check - the problem is its not the persons full name, just her christian name and surname. Her second name of name appeared in subsequent check boxes, but again the highlighted name matched what it asks to be matched. Are we supposed to correct the name in one contiguous entry? Does the AI subsequently join all the names into one name afterwards?
The principal person the document is about has their name repeated through the document - is the indexed document going to have multiple versions of the name when its indexed? ie the typed name, the handwritten name? Also some of her name entries are typed in capitals - the indexed check is also typed all in capitals, so are indexed names going to start appearing in search all in caps or are we meant to correct it to upper and lower case?
Further on its asking me to check the names of the witness, the registrar, the magistrate, the name of the law firm (a person and their associates) - all of these are "peoples names" by definition, but they are not the principal person the record is about - are these people all going to appear as indexed results when the records are published?

I suggested a couple of days ago that this whole area needed a dedicated Community Group, as for Labs, where issues could be reported formally and tracked properly. That would, as for the Labs, also provide an effective communication channel (objectives, announcements, etc.) between the FS team and the user community, which feels essential given the lack of clarity you describe.

@gary_noble That's a lot of questions! I'll try to answer them all, and find you answers if for what I don't know.
- The index projects in quick name review are actual projects, and you are helping prepare them as searchable records.
- In my experience, (in quick name review) blue and orange highlights are used when there are two names, a first and a surname. They appear to be differentiating between the two names. When the computer is only reading one name, it sticks with a blue highlight.
- Regarding when only part of the name is included in the highlight - Quick Name Review is only the first step in the review process. After Quick Name Review, these projects will be loaded into Full Name Review where the rest of the name can be added by reviewers. So what you index in Quick Name Review is exactly what is in the highlighted portion.
- It is my understanding that these projects may end up in something like Full-Text Search. If you look at Full-Text Search the name is repeated many times in a document and it is highlighted each time. I'll look into this one more and see what else I can find out.
- Yes, if the highlighted word is a name, please index it, whether or not it is the main person in the document. The people will be sorted into how they relate to the main person later on in the process. However, only index the names of people. For example, the name of a law firm, even though it may contain the name of a person, is not a person.
Hopefully that answered all your questions. Let me know if I missed any. Thank you for your feedback and for trying out the Get Involved projects!
