Looking for birth and/or baptismal records for Great Grandfather in Germany

My great grandfather was, according to his naturalization papers, born in Eckernförde, Germany. His name is Heinrich (Henry) Friedrick Boetger (Böttger), b. 11 Oct 1868. Immigrated to the US in 1883 on the ship Wieland. He was 14 years old. I do not need any US records as I have those records. I am just looking for a birth or baptismal record in Germany to see if the names of his parents are a part of that information. Please and thank you for any guidance you can give me as to where to look. I am not a member of Archion nor do I wish to be at this time.

@Leah Hubbard Unfortunately, FamilySearch does not have records in it's collections for the Evangelical Church in Eckernförde, Schleswig-Holstein for the time period of 1868. Here is what you will find in a Catalog Search.
You can learn more about the records available at FamilySearch Research Wiki, but I believe the only online source is Archion:
It is possible to purchase just a one month pass for a reasonable cost.
You may also want to join the Germany Research group here on FamilySearch, especially if you find the records as they can provide excellent help with translation. I wish you well.

@Leah Hubbard I just had another thought. Eckernförde is the name of a kreis (district or county) as well as a city. It's quite possible Henry was born in one of the small villages in the district of Eckernförde. You may want to search the Familienblätter (family books) and some have been digitized as you see in the catalog list I sent. The date range given is not correct. There is information in these books into the 1900's. They are in alphabetical order, but remember that names starting with Bö will come after all the names starting with "Bo".

Good morning. SerraNola looks to have provided some great information. I found a possible piece of the puzzle on My Heritage web site. It shows a Louise born in 1820 in Germany, no further information, as the mother of Henrich. This site may charge you to look at their data. The site does provide a contact who may have corroborative information on Louisa, but once again you must be a member of the site. https://www.myheritage.com/research/record-1-567430501-3-5709/heinrich-fredrich-boetger-in-myheritage-family-trees?fspid=LRXS-L9Z
Have you checked the Obituaries in Iowa. I found a Wiki FamilySearch page that may help in locating Obituaries and mortuaries. Many times the obituary contains the names if deceased parent and mortuaries keep copies of their obits in their files.. There are also several private web sites that will search your obituary requests for a fee. Legacy.com appears to have an obit for your names but I do not have access to check. An as suggested above maybe taking your question into the German Research Group might find even more answers.
