Why do all the people listed in my tree show as descended, even the living?

I assume you mean deceased rather than descended! If records have been marked as deceased when the person is still alive, you need to email Support providing details of the individuals (names and IDs) with reasons why you know them to still be alive.

Good afternoon Jenifer: If you are trying to fix someone from deceased back to living that you did not originally post in FamilySearch please contact Support….You will need documents, photo's or something to prove the issue. You can also review Correcting a persons vital information.

If you go to the profile page for a person who is living but marked as deceased and turn on the detail view for Vitals or check the Change Log, you will be able to see which user marked them as deceased. You might want to contact that person about the problem. There have been occasional users who do not understand the importance of privacy regulations and mark everyone they create a profile for as deceased because "otherwise no one else can see them."
For everyone that is alive that you run across, just follow the procedure given in the help center article posted above which is basically go to their profile pages, click the edit pencil next to the death information, click Living, then fill out the form.
