A very helpful person in Germany sent some records about my family. They date from the 1600's to 1700's There are a lot of abbreviations that I don't know and can't find the meanings of. also, I tried scanning the images into Google translate and they don't translate well into English. Can someone please advise?

My best suggestion is to join the Germany Research group and post a question with images, or with links to images of the documents somewhere that people can look at easily.

Could someone please read my earlier message and offer some guidance?

    Hi @kim wills.

I'd recommend this page which has many helpful handouts, videos and other resources: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/Germany_Handwriting

I'd also suggest looking at this page, especially the General Word List at the bottom, which includes many common abbreviations: https://www.familysearch.org/en/wiki/German_Genealogical_Word_List

I echo Julia's recommendation for the Germany Research Group. They have helped me several times when I just couldn't understand the writing. But it is important first to learn a little about the handwriting and a few German vocabulary words.

I didn't have a problem translating the record, my question was about looking further for the missing marriage entry of Christian Gottlob Heinze and Anna Rosina Kiessling. All earlier records of the Heinze family were from the Goerlitz area. I would like to find out where they might have been married to trace them back further

    Hi @kim wills.

I'm sorry you haven't gotten an answer yet on finding the marriage entry.

It looks like your comments were meant for your most recent discussion, "Can someone please advise" from the Germany Research Group, versus this one, "German genealogical abbreviations".

Since you posted there over a month ago, you could try commenting on it again, otherwise, starting a new discussion about it in the Germany Research Group may be your best bet.
