Seems to be a general problem - not connected to this specific file: I tried to open the attachment to John's previous post (which we had opened and transcribed) … same error message.

It works perfectly fine! Again, the words are quite difficult to read and we will probably have to ask @WSeelentag for help again. As far as I could decipher the text, it's about some people dancing unlawfully in an tavern. I am attaching a first version of the highlighted section. However, I have not been able to find the term 'Zinggen' in the entire document.

I'm sorry about the question regarding Zinggen. There is a reference to Zinggen must later in the document and I briefly thought I saw it here. I am trying to connect this Heini (Heinrich) to Zinggen and I think my wishful thinking misled me. :-)

Heinrich, of Zinggen, is potentially the name of the father of the David who is my ancestor, according to Julius Billeter, and I'm searching every document I can find to confirm this.

I am sure the first letter is a G - see in the next para the names Uhli Greub and Christen Gerwer. I have never come across the given (colloquial) name Greini, and have no idea what the full name could be - but it will be a woman: being asked for a dance by a Melchior; also note the welches and es - women mentioned with a colloquial name only, will in dialect often be called "das Greini".

I have also never come across the name Greini, but I will look more closely at the other references in this file for a name that I thought was Heini.
