Have you had a chance to go through the many records available on FamilySearch Wiki for Ireland's Emigration and immigration? Another good location to look is in old obituaries which you can find at Legacy. Also, many other sites have old newspapers including looking at the hometown paper where your ancestor died.

You can also check immigration records at FamilySearch Wiki for early immigration.

To research the birth records of Alexander and Rachel you can find records at FamilySearch Wiki for Ireland, but you will need more information on what county to look in. Even a best guess to get you started.

In the upcoming RootsTech conference, there are some very interesting topics that cover Ireland, you might take a look there for ideas. https://www.familysearch.org/en/rootstech/search?f.language=en-US&f.countryTags=00000191-5d16-db76-ad95-fdde43b10000&p.index=0
