Can a child take over an elderly parents Family Search account?

This is against the policy of FamilySearch.
The child should open his or her own account. They can easily gain access to any trees built up by their parents.
First they should add their parents to their own record. If they are still living, these records will be private to that account.
Next they add their grandparents. Assuming these are deceased, they can find them by ID number. Once these are added, they will have full access to any trees built up by their parents or others.
