1885 Kansas Census Place of Birth (MQG5-V2T)

I am trying to figure out what two abbreviation stand in the column labeled Place of Birth. It says to put the State or Territory of the US or the country they were born in. one sys "Kim" and one is "p u"

    Hi @AstinAmyErica1. I think 'Kim' is 'Kans' for Kansas, and the 'p u' should be PA for Pennsylvania. The enumerator's handwriting is a bit tricky—their A's look more like U's.
