Is there a way for me to send my family tree to my dad so he can fill in information as he finds it to his side of the tree?

He doesn't want to create an account for fear that information he puts in will not be shared with me.

    Suggestion.

    .

Use any one of the "Third Party" Programmes in the "Solutions Gallery" of "FamilySearch" that is certified to work with "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".

    .

Your Father and you can use the same programme; and, work together, away from "Family Tree" of "FamilySearch".

    .

Explore and play around with the various programmes, see what suits you both the best.

    You say:

I dont understand this concern - all information (concerning deceased people) is shared with all FS users - and you would see it.

and more importantly he would see your info.

He doesn't have to input anything technically speaking - but he could view what YOU have done - and over the phone he could tell you the names and data to add.

(noting however that FS was designed to keep track of deceased people - not living people. Living people's data is not shared between users)

Food for thought...if you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, you will see a little life-saver and the words Help Others. You can log in there using his full given name and birth date and you will be able to enter data for him. He could do the same to your account, but he would have to have his own login and then use this 'Helper Mode'.

    it a single database

we all have access to the same set of records (at least for the deceased)

the data doesn't get "sent" anywhere.

People around the world "access the data" from the same central location.

Not much we can do if someone is unwilling to "access the data".

That being said - you could print - like a blank Family Group Sheet

and have him fill it out and mail it back to you

but that was the way things worked 30 years ago.

we don't want to go back in time . . .
