I inadvertently deleted my parents' relationship in the living family group tree

When I try to replace my living father to the living family group tree I get a message that they cannot add that person to the family group. I tried using his name and his ID #. His name appears on the Family Search tree and on his personal page.

As I understand it, family group trees add a third "space" to the tree: there's the public space, where all of the profiles that are marked "deceased" go; each user has a private space, containing all of the profiles he or she has entered as "living"; and now, each family group has a private space, for all of the living profiles added to the family group's tree. The spaces have zero overlap: each profile can only be in one space, be it public or private.

All that to say: you'll need to create a new profile for any missing living people in your group's tree. But first, make sure the person really is missing, rather than sitting there, disconnected: check your mom's family group profile's Change Log. You should be able to find your dad in it, and you may be able to restore the relationship instead of re-creating it.

You will want to use the ID for the profile that you have in your own FamilySearch Tree. You cannot use the ID that your living father sees for himself. You must create a copy of him from your own tree. Then he can join your group and copy whatever information he has for himself to the shared Family Group Tree.
