I will be traveling to Germany in September and would like to visit several of my ancestors' home towns and see if I can view/find family records. One town (taken from Meyers Gazeteer) is: StdA Weiler 25) OA. Brackenheim [self] - The Standesamt for Weiler is in itself. The Standesamt is where the Civil Registration Office is located. Does anyone know if it's possible to visit that civil registration office in person to view records? Thank you.

you may also notice the timeperiod of the Meyer Gazeteer ..

This is the most important of all German gazetteers. The goal of the
Meyer’s compilers was to list every place name in the German Empire
    (1871-1918).

So it´s no up to date gazetter..
