Add to Source Box flag is disables by default
Dear all,
I just came across the new source linker screen and I am impressed by the adjusted features. Unfortunately, the 'Add to Source Box' flag is disabled by default. Is there a chance to enable this flag by default so that the connection between content and sources is not lost by accident?
Thanks and best regards

NOOOO, please don't.
I believe that having that checkbox off is a Very Good Thing; in fact, I'm not sure why it has ever even existed on Source Linker. What purpose does it serve to save an index entry? It's intended to apply to exactly one person in the Family Tree, and you've just (presumably) finished attaching it to said person's profile. Why clutter your source box with things that you'll never need again?
I don't understand what you're worried about, that you hope to mitigate with such clutter. "Connection between content and sources": source tagging? index detail pages? detachment by another user? Your Source Box doesn't apply to fixing any of the problems that I can think of. If someone comes along and detaches the source, you can put it back using the profile's Change Log, and any changes (disimprovements) in FS's display of index details will not be helped by your saved copy; it'll behave exactly the same way as the one on the profile. What accident are you hoping to avoid or fix this way?

HI Julia,
thanks for your feedback. So far, I am mainly working on index entries based on German Kirchenbuch records (church records) between 1700 and 1900. As there is also user submitted information (which doesn't always seem to be 100% reliable) for me it is always very helpful to be able to review if an event if originated from a source entry.
With this in mind your feedback confuses me a bit. Do I overlook something? Isn't it a good thing to have the church record attached to the event? So far, I thought when not linking a source right away the connection is lost forever and can't be created afterwards. In your lines I read that this is not true…
It seems that most likely i am lacking experience here.
Best regards

You don't need to put the record in your source box to attach it to the profile.

Ohhh, I see. So, the source will be attached to the event anyway independently if it is in my source box or not?
If this is the case I guess I completely misunderstood the concept of the source box.
Thanks for clarifying :-)

@xakrause The linked articles here may be helpful:
Your source box lets you reuse sources instead of retyping them each time you need to use them. Reuse is the important word.

Why should you use the Source Box to track your attached sources?
