Can anyone identify the uniform worn in this photograph? Is it military? It was taken in the early 1930s in Salt Lake City Utah United States and the young man is in his early 20s.

The image is small and rather indistinct (blurry), but I don't see any military insignia on the cap or the collar.

I'd agree with @Áine Ní Donnghaile - no sign of anything military. The shirt is open, loose and casual; the cap could be a simple civilian yachting cap. So it could just be his civilian clothes to go boating… Or look like he's going boating.

I shared it with an American friend who commented, "Looks like my milk delivery man from the 1970s."😎

Probably wouldn’t have his portrait taken in his milkman uniform. There was Coast Guard on the Great Salt Lake during the 1930s and he lived nearby. Anyone familiar with any Coast Guard sites?

The only website I could find with any sort of date said that Salt Lake didn't have a coast guard until 1958

I would agree with Aine Ni Donnghaile, it looks like a milkman's uniform to me. I grew up in the Salt Lake City area in the early 1950's and I remember seeing milk delivery men wearing these type of uniforms. My family and I were over in England in the early 1980's and they wore similar uniforms during that time.

There are various military caps that look simialr to that.
but with no insignia on the cap - and coupled with the white shirt - does indeed look like a Milkman.
I dont think it is a Navy/Sailors hat.
Most military hats have an inisignia in the center of the upper cap - this one doesnt.
Military Police sometimes have similar caps - but again why no insignia?

Or maybe its no uniform at all . Maybe just a white shirt and a white personal hat.

Winder Dairy was the delivery company in Salt Lake at the time and they wore brown uniforms.

    Salt Lake City Fire Dept
but again the hat has an insignia
the lack of insignia on the hat in your photo really makes me wonder that it may not really be a "uniform"

Maybe something like the Great Salt Lake Yacht Club.
