Original home of Patrick Carrigan

Ronald Chase and Janice Church Murphy in their “Irish Famine Immigrants in the State of Vermont: Gravestone Inscriptions” states that Patrick met his first wife, Margaret Hunt, in Castleton, Vermont in the 1830s. I contacted the Burlington Archdiocese for a marriage record that would reveal home parishes for both but was told they were too busy to help. Also, I have not found such at American Ancestors’ Boston records. On the death record of his 4th child he was said to be from Donegal - that’s a big area. Can you help me narrow the scope of search?

@JohnBean1 JohnBean1 - To begin with do you have any birth and death dates for this couple? It helps to provide us with specific details so we have more to go on. Are Patrick Carrigan and Margaret Hunt in FamilySearch on their Tree or at Ancestry, etc.

As far as American Ancestors go that is an evolving data base with more parishes being added virtually every week - so what isn't there this week may be there next week.

Oops. Patrick can be found at FamilySearch LYK6-QP4; first wife, Margareth/Margaret Jones Hunt

Carrigan = LYK6 - NH3; and also in E. Poultney graveyard on Findagrave.

    Patrick ca 1812-1888; Marg ca 1819 - 1848.
