Was there a discussion group for the memory viewer changes?

Seems odd those changes just suddenly appeared with no warning or trial phase like the new person page or source linker. The new UI is really awkward and inconsistent. Seeing the full list of connected people is good, but only being able to see one information section at a time is unnecessary functionality loss, and not being able to see comments and any information panel (including tagged people) at the same time is a disastrous UX mistake. (What is this fascination with sliding panels that take up an entire edge of the browser window and eats up a lot more processing power?)

No discussion group for this but some people are making comments in the Family Group Trees group since it is through there people are running into the new Memories page.

@RTorchia I'm not seeing changes to the Memory Viewer. Are you perhaps viewing from a Family Group Tree? I know that some features are not yet enabled in the Family Group Trees.

There is a group for Family Group Trees.

This is the new memory viewer:

I'm pretty sure you have to have the Family Group Trees Lab turned on to see this. But when you have turned on group trees, you see it with all profiles.

I agree too much in the side bar is hidden by default. At a minimum the Details section should default open. And the tagged people takes too much room.

On the positive side, there are new controls that allow anyone to rotate an image and save the new rotation. The other adjustments are for use when looking at the image but those cannot be saved:

Comparing side by side in the same size window, the viewing area is bigger:

Unfortunately it is still the case that only the person who uploaded the photo can add a date or place.

@Áine Ní Donnghaile @Gordon Collett Ah, I turned on only the Profile Quality Score experiment, but I guess they lumped this one in there with it.

I apologize in advance to other users, with the new tag memory feature I
will not be tagging other relatives in the memory, it is too cumbersome
and takes way too long, if it works at all. The page usually just
freezes, not allowing me to do anything at all. It takes several
minutes to resize the box, then another several minutes to add the name,
then another several minutes to attach the name to the person.

I am not in Family Group tree mode and as far as I know I have not enable FamilySearch Lab participation.

My experience in the last few days is the Tagging function simply doesn't work. The system freezes. I have noticed on photos that others have uploaded are Tagged multiple times (3 or more) which would indicate to me that the response time is slow for tagging and thus people repeat the process over and over resulting in multiple tags for the same individual in the photo. Hope it all gets fixed soon.

engineers are already working on it. and many of the issues have already been fixed.
BUT sometimes, it seems, people dont see the fix - until they delete their browser cache.
