Have a universal UNKNOWN FamilySearch ID person place holder to attach these sources toto
I dislike having UNKNOWN - UNFINISHED ATTACHMENTS. I check all the UNFINISHED ATTACHMENTS of the names I am researching, and more times than not they are UNKNOWN.
I have created an UNKNOWN person to attach these to so they no longer show as UNFINISHED ATTACHMENTS in the SOURCES tab.
I recommend to have a universal UNKNOWN FamilySearch ID person place holder to attach these to, that way FamilySearch doesn't have some many UNKOWN IDs.

Are you aware that you can simply dismiss the notice? There is absolutely no need to create an effectively-empty profile to attach anything to.

"I recommend to have a universal UNKNOWN FamilySearch ID person place holder to attach these to..."
If you wish, you can create IDs for any individual whose relationship is yet to be established. Having an "UNKNOWN" headed ID with possibly thousands (even tens of thousands) of these unidentified individuals attached (for which you'd still have to create a new ID in any case) seems like a nightmare. Who is going to sift through all those individuals to see if a family can be found to which they might be attached?

It is a really bad idea to attach dozens of sources for unrelated people to a single, artificial profile dumping ground of Unknown. This could really mess up the hinting routine because of the way that routine looks at all the sources and extended relationships on a profile to find more hints. Please go to your Unknown profile and detach all those sources. Then use the Dismiss link when you run across them on a source page as Julia states:
Personally I have found that it is actually pretty easy to determine who those people are supposed to be when the index says "unknown" by spending a little time evaluating the index and the original image so that the source can be attached to the correct person.

@David Emerson Brocious It is inappropriate to use the work UNKNOWN in a name field in Family Tree. The Help Center article How do I enter a person with an unknown name into Family Tree? states:
Do not enter terms like "unnamed," "mother," "daughter," or "son" in the First Name or Last Name field unless they were really the person's name.
