Translation Request

In this "out-migration" record #13 is Ole Christensen Skaaland who is leaving Holt Parish on 19 Sep 1857. I cannot read the place where he and is family are going to. I cannot find them in the 1865 or 1875 Norwegian censuses. Is this the name of a country? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the place is probably Arendal in Aust Agder county.

There is a family in the 1865 census for Arendal which has some similarities with the family in the move-out record. There is a Christen (or Chresten) who would be about the same age as in your moving record. The mother's name is Hanne Knudsdatter (that is supported in the original version which you can view by clicking on "See Scannned Version" at the top left under "Person: 006 Ole Christensen"). These records don't prove that it is the same family in Arendal as in your moving record, but it might be worth looking to.

Thank you very much for the help. You were absolutely correct that it was Arendal. Ole Christensen died as Ole Skaaland on 30 Apr 1868. Skaaland was the farm name from Holt.
