I know the instructions changed in the beginning to reflect that we do not key a deceased spouse. When "wid" is with the name we skip the spouse name. I am just curious as to why? It would seem to me the more information about an individual the better. Can someone enlighten my knowledge of this? Thank you.

I've wondered at the sense it it, too. The only thing I can think of is that the custodians of the records, who allow Family Search access to them, gave those instructions. Sometimes it's those custodians who give FS instructions as to what to index.
