'You are invited to discover...' marriage anniversary discrepancy
Howdy!
I'm writing on behalf of my friend and work colleague who shared a disgruntled moment on Facebook about something he received from FamilySearch recently. I'm writing to ask a question on his behalf.
He recently received one of the 'You are invited to discover...' notifications from FamilySearch about an ancestor's wedding anniversary. Here is what he wrote:
Curmudgeon moment: The LDS FamilySearch website sent me this notification: "You are invited to discover your great-grandfather's wedding anniversary!. We've compiled life events of your great-grandfather to commemorate his anniversary.
William Monroe Hurt
20 January 1867
See His Life Events"
* Apparently my great-grandmother did *not* get married on that same day - at least, FamilySearch did not send me a notification about her. Harrumph, harrumph, harrumph ...
So, our question is... when pushing out information about wedding anniversaries, why is information not sent out at the same time about both individuals? After all, 'wedding anniversary' is about two people, right?

I have had the same wrong email about my great-grandmother twice this month. I mostly ignore them - as I do the ad emails from my favorite shoe store. It's marketing fluff.

These emails are not intended to include every event for every ancestor. They are just a sampling of events for your ancestors. I've never received more than one on a single day (or even in a single week), which I appreciate -- I don't want to be flooded with these emails, but I appreciate an occasional highlight of an important event in one of my ancestors' lives.

@MJL Please let your friend know there wasn't a discrepancy. In sending an email about a marriage it is of course implied that there were 2 parties involved so there was no need to send 2 emails about the same event. The email was a way to encourage you to look at those grandparents lives and it merely directly you to one of them to get you started. Alan makes a great point that you wouldn't want us to. You would get too many emails from us!
Sam 😊
