Hi,

Do I need to index a name change request on a naturalization record?

Of course I am indexing their name as is, but as they are requesting their name to be changed on the document as well, would I index that on another entry? Thanks

You index a name change by using the word "or" such as Given Name James or John. Surname Wua or Wang

No, you will not add an entry. You will index what the name is being changed to if it is a Name Change request, otherwise separate all variants of the given and surname, separating them by the word Or.

I am working on CA Petitions for Naturalization. Some include a request for a name change.

If it is a Name Change record, you will index the name they are requesting it to be changed to. Otherwise, you will index all variants of both the given and surname, separating them by the word Or.

    Ex:

    Given Name: Rosa Or Rose

    Surname: Green Or Greene

When indexing a declaration of intent and the individual has changed his name and the original name is given, which name should be entered?
