Whhen a document Image is unavailable but has a microfilm number, can I get a copy of the original?
For example, on my ancestor's page, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NDHT-V7F (a legacy collection), the image is not available but the Document information lists folder, microfilm and batch numbers. Can a copy of the original document be made at a FamilySearch Center or at the Library?
Other times , like on this page https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QPHS-YF61, it says "To view these images do one of the following:
- Access the site at a FamilySearch center.
- Access the site at a FamilySearch affiliate library.
How do I know that this document is accessable at a center and not limited to only a library. A center is close to me but the library is not.

Affiliate Libraries are usually part of a public or sometimes a university system. There are MORE affiliates than FamilySearch Centers, and they have much longer open hours. For example, the public library system in my city is an Affiliate. That means I can access restricted records at every branch, not just the Main Office of the Library. My public library has the main and 13 branches, so Affiliates are plentiful. There is only one FamilySearch Center, which is only open 90 minutes per week.
When you visit a Center or an Affiliate, you can generally download the image just as you can when available records when you are at home.
As an example, this is an image I retrieved when I visited my Affiliate yesterday. When I'm home, I see
But when I'm at my Affiliate, the page looks like this:
and I can download the image to my computer or a thumb drive.
Hope this helps.
