Good morning Tana Lee
GEDCOM7 is supposed to be able to handle photos. But FamilySearch does not create GEDCOM files. You will need to use RootsMagic to transfer the FamilySearch Family Tree information to RootsMagic. Sources can be automatically transferred, but I do not see a way to transfer the photos.
FamilySearch documentation on GEDCOM states:
FamilySearch GEDCOM 7.0 expands your ability to build, preserve, collaborate, import, and export your family tree data—all while maintaining control of the original copy or file, of course. The list of new or improved features includes:
- Zip packaging capabilities for photos and other files.
- An expanded and more versatile note-taking section that includes text styling and formatting.
- Sample files and code, as well as self-testing guides to support developers and engineers.
- Removal of several ambiguities from the previous version of GEDCOM.
RootsMagic Online Help states:
RootsMagic lets you add unlimited media items (pictures, audio clips, video clips, or files) to your database. When you add a media item, RootsMagic stores a link to that media item, but does not put the media item itself into the database. You can then "tag" a picture or media item with the person, family, event, source, citation, or place the media item refers to. A media item can have more than one tag, so you can, for example, tag a census image with the people and family mentioned in the image, the source or citation for the census, and the place the census image refers to.
5.Sources - Once a person has been matched to a person on FamilySearch Family Tree, you may see and transfer your sources between RootsMagic and Family Tree. The number of sources attached to the person is displayed on the Sources tab.
