When I look for a record in Newport, Monmouth, Wales it can't be found. All the records for this place are filed under Newport, Isle of Wight, England

@Ken Royston Can you please share the URL of one of the records? It sounds like the ugly placename standardization problem. There is a staff member who has taken the lead on getting these reported and eventually fixed, but specifics are required.

If you look at the family of Henry Smith GGDC-FQ3 you will see I have tried to attach the civil records birth index to the sources of all his children. The records say Newport Monmouth, Wales but to search for them using the Search Records, they are found under Newport, Isle Of Wight, England.

Also on other records as 1911 Census, for Monmouth, the Event Place will say Monmouth, Gloucestershire instead of Monmouth, Wales
