Who oversees the FamilySearch center now that there are no directors? Will that 'Director' position be changed to something else?

Stake Temple and Family History Consultant—FamilySearch Center

The stake temple and family history consultant–FamilySearch Center directs the day-to-day operations of the FamilySearch center. Responsibilities may include:

    • Support priesthood goals by helping members have family discovery experiences, gather names to take to the temple, and connect with their family on both sides of the veil.
    • Coordinate the activities and use of the center as you help Church members and community visitors discover their ancestors.
    • Work with the high councilor supporting temple and family history work and the stake technology specialist to meet the operational needs of the center and maintain the center and center resources. (These responsibilities are explained in further detail in this guide.)

Is this pertaining to the Ward Consultant?

This is an answer to: Who oversees the FamilySearch center?

    This is a Stake calling.

Have they just renamed the Director (singular) to FamilySearch center leadership(plural) ?

The calling is Stake Temple and Family History Consultant-FamilySearch. The Title is FamilySearch Center Director or FamilySearch Center Leader. Either Title may refer to the Center Leader. Still, the calling must be Stake Temple and Family History Consultant-FamilySearch and must be selected by the Stake Clerk from the drop-down list on the computer.

Thank you for the information. I am listed with the church records as the director but in the ward records I am a consultant. Is this something I should be concerned about? We also have a T&FH Leader that does not participate very much.

    Jan,

The center leader/director is a stake calling. A consultant can be on the ward or stake level. Do you have two callings or one? For example I am the Stake T&FH consultant -FamilySearch because I am the director of the center (stake level) but also a ward T&FH consultant.

Well I think I have those two callings also. But I don't remember that I was ever called by the stake for the one. It may take a while for all the new 'rolls' to be distinguished here in MN. I'm still the Director, from before they got rid of that calling. Been at it for over 30 years. It would be nice to have it as a recognized calling so we can all work together in FH.
