IMPORTANT: OBITUARY INSTRUCTIONS - INDEX EVERY NAME!

For anyone indexing or reviewing obituaries remember to index every name with the relationship. The last few batches I reviewed only had records for the deceased and needed to have 6 to 62 more records added to list their "Other" relatives and non-relatives.

From the What to Look For While Reviewing Instruction:

  • This project contains 2 entry types: "Deceased" and "Other." Use the "Other" entry type to index the names of relatives or anyone else mentioned in the record.
  • Please ensure all named individuals are indexed and with correct relationship to the deceased.
  • Check that duplicate or additional obituaries for the same individual have only been indexed once with any additional names (other) added with the "Other" template.
  • Do not index entries for newspaper announcements of anniversaries, marriages, or births.
