In Image 2 the birthplace is listed as "On board sailing ship Llanguihue from Valparaiso, Chile". That's what I put in the entry field. Is that correct? That's kind of cool, huh? Although his mother might not have thought so! 😉

Instruction (when they had decent instructions for almost any situation) used to be to enter "At Sea" when someone was born on a ship at sea. It would be interesting to see what an official answer would be these days.

I think At Sea should still apply. The field help says: Do not index street names, addresses, hospitals, or localities smaller than a town or city. I think names of ships at sea would also apply to this.

If specific locality of the sea can be listed, great

BUT I can't get the FSFT to accept Strait of Gibraltar as the specific place where the ship sank.

I already tried PlaceNames site to add the place. No allowance for seas despite having exact GPS address

@W D Samuelsen contact me please, the Places tool's "suggest new" function is limited. To suggest something like a sea, you're better off contacting them by email (placefeedback@familysearch.org).
