Why has the split screen index and info been removed from the census page displays?
Previously, the entire page indexing was shown at the bottom of the screen. That has been replaced with a banner displaying thumbnails of the continuing stream of pages, allowing you to move easily from page to page. However, this is not necessary, since the image number can just as easily be changed in the upper left. Having the entire page index was a great feature, as one could select multiple indexes from the page (even the entire page!) copy-and-paste into a spreadsheet (or any application) for further analysis. I did this often, copying entire families over multiple years onto a single spreadsheet page to analyze how the family changed over the years and resolve discrepancies. You have made such analysis much more difficult. In general, your practice of linking to an intermediate index page instead of linking immediately to the original document I find to be pretty useless. Having to scroll down a page to see all the information is very difficult to integrate mentally, as opposed to having it all in one view. My 2¢. <g>
