I would like to suggest that New Ideas have a separate category in the list of FamilySearch Help. This would enable all ideas in one section of the Help Categories.

    Suggest an Idea already has its own category. You just posted in it.

    The "Suggest an Idea" should then "suggest" the number of Ideas created and the number in research and development.

    This is part of FamilySearch Help; i.e. "Get Involved" 142; Genearl Questions 2.9K, etc.

    If you go to the first page of Suggest an Idea, you can see that it has 706 pages, compared to 509 in Indexing and 503 in Family Tree, so you can make a good guess that the number of suggestions is currently around 7000.

    the number of Ideas created and the number in research and development.

    Except for those ideas that are close to implementation - in Beta testing, for example - it would be rare for any organization to share the number of ideas in development.

    It may be "rare" but not impossible. Most world wide organizations indicate what is in reseach and development and what is not possible - Like the Temple Worker Portal.

    You're also presuming that EVERY post in the Suggest an Idea category is an idea to be evaluated by the engineers. There are MANY posts that are not that at all.

    @Vince Fuller

    Before the introduction of this "Community" forum FamilySearch used a platform run by GetSatisfaction.com. At one time this did provide for developers / employees to announce whether a suggestion was going to be implemented, or not. Eventually, as is the case here, there was virtually no engineer / developer participation and that appears to continue to be current FamilySearch policy. (So, if an idea is adopted, the first you are likely to know about it is when it appears - although that might be in the beta version of the program, before reaching the production model.)

    I have been unsuccessfully requesting for years that FamilySearch gives notice of forthcoming content - particularly new record sets (no timescales even expected), but, for some reason they appear not to wish to follow other websites in this practice.

    Thank you for your time and input.

    I thought the "Suggest and Idea" would be more transparent and easily accomodating for the type of platform FamilySearch is intended, from my perspective.

    Thanks again for the comment.
