I am trying to find a railroad application for work in Washington State for George Erwin Jones, in t
I went to the National Archive site, looked under railroads, did not seem to find anything that would direct me to a work application. I deleted the information from his sources a year or so , I decided that I had the wrong person, a common name. However, just recently I have discovered that George had relatives in Washington State and I would like to take another look at it. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a little confused - where was it you originally found this item?
in FamilySearch? some library, some archive? on line
where?

I believe that it was in an archive...I am thinking that maybe at Library of Congress or the National Archive. The application for work at the railroad is one of those items that pop up when you are looking for something else. I had previously in my excitement to have found something that connected my grandfather to working at a railroad, I add it to my grandfather here on Family Search as a source. Then at a later time I went back to review it, and realized that it was for the state of Washignton, and with what information that I had about him, and seeing many other George Erwin Jones that are not related, I decided that he was probably not my grandfather, so I deleted it from the source. I have since come across a letter and a death certificate request, that has a brother and his family living in Seattle WA. I am apptempting to try and find it again, because I think that that application could now be my grandfather Jones. Hope this long explanation helps clear up some of confusion.

hmm - - -that's like looking for a needle in a haystack
that's why its so important to keep bookmarks/citations
and always have a version of the original notes file that includes things that may have been deleted in later versions of the files.
you never know when you will want to go back and find something you thought you would not later want
maybe someone on the community will find it and you will be lucky . . .
I will see if I can find anything

I found it on Ancestry, under hints. I think it was put there since I had already identified as a possible relative. Thank you everyone.
