Copying Memories - Warning needed?

Has anyone tested out what happens to private memories when copying a profile to the shared group? Can one of the people in charge here tell us what is supposed to happen?

What should people do if there is a memory on a living person that they do not want to share? Do they need to untag it temporarily before copying the profile? If they untag from the shared profile after copying the profile, that memory will still be sitting in the change log for the shared person where anyone in the group can access it.

Does there need to be a warning? "Please review this profile before copying and remove any information or memories that should not be copied to the group. After copying, you can use the change log of the original profile to restore the information and memories."

I do see that the change log for the shared profile does start with its new creation and does not pull in anything in the original profile's change log before that date and agree that is how things should be.

Your example of detaching a memory before or after creating a Family Group Tree profile is interesting. Right now, that shouldn't be an issue, because all memories are either Public or Private. If private, then the memory isn't visible to anyone at all other than the person who uploaded it. If public, then anyone can see it anyway. The ones tagged to living people have a 'do not search' indicator in them that makes them harder to find, but they are still publicly viewable. Knowing this, does it matter whether it is linked in All Changes or not?

I would hope that in the future memories could be locked down to specific groups. But would that change anything for the memories that already are uploaded? Will there be a way to mark a bunch of images as viewable only to specific Family Groups?

Another example (for the future) I upload a memory and tag it to my newest grandchild (with parents' permission) in the "Willson Et Al" family group tree. It locks down so that only members of the "Willson Et Al" family group can see it. It is not Public (anyone can see it), nor is it Private (only I can see it) which are the only two options we currently have. It is shared. Anyone in the specific family group (Willson Et Al) would be able to see it. Additionally, I could attach that same tag to the grandchild's profile in the LoForte and Cousins family group tree and all the members of the LoForte and Cousins group could see that same image of my grandchild. BUT ONLY the members of those two Family Groups would be able to see it. Not publicly viewable.

    Would we call that Shared?

Would we show the group name(s) that it is shared to?

If we upload a memory to a Family Group chat, will it automatically lock the viewability to just the individuals in that particular Family Group? Will there be a checkbox that says which Family Groups you want it visible to? or just locked to Shared, in contrast to Public or Private.

We may need a warning to teach users.

What currently happens is: If a memory is marked PRIVATE by a user, users of the group can not see the memory. A new permission is being developed to allow a memories to be GROUP PRIVATE. Only members of the group and view the memory.
