How do I delete a person who was added by the website?

I listed my father in my lineage line and then his parents were populated automatically. However, his mother's decease date is listed as 1918 and he wasn't born until 1926! How can that be? And he is still listed as living and he would be 97 this year. He was in poor health when I met him in 1976, so I doubt that he'd still be alive. My mother passed away in 1992 and she was 10 years younger.

My case is complicated because I was placed in a foster home when I was 18 months old and didn't know either of my parents. I grew up in the foster home 1000 miles from my reservation. I don't have any relatives found on my mother's side because she was 100% Sioux and my father was part Sioux and part European. At least that's what he told me when I met him in 1975.

Thank you for any help you can give.

"The website" doesn't add people or do anything else to the collaborative Family Tree, and profiles that are marked "living" are only visible to the user who created them, so you must be misunderstanding something that you are seeing.

Hi Gayle Welcome to FamilySearch Community and asking your question about your father and grandparents. I have sent you a private message. Please look at the upper right to the envelop icon with the red dot. Click on that for my message.

well. . . it does "appear" to add people - if for example you suddenly link your father - to a deceased person (already in the system) whose lineage goes back various generations - once you make that link - it can then "appear" as if a whole bunch of people were "added by the system". But such people were already in the system and simply previously added by other people (not just the system generically) - it was simply your link that made the difference.

keep in mind this is not a place where each of us has private trees - this is one massive database that we all share - where what one person does - can affect the same people that other users are linked to etc.,
