New index-editing tool: problem with adding entries

(I've edited the second paragraph, because it turns out that part of the problem was that I was being too impatient -- although the error message didn't say that.)

In the early, one-per-side Hungarian civil registers, entries based on a written report (such as from a hospital) were often written "longhand" in the margin instead of using the pre-printed fields. For whatever reason, the computer-based indexing process skipped these entries entirely.

If only one of the entries on an image was written longhand and therefore skipped (such as https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33SQ-GGBH-686?view=index&groupId=M9S8-QML), then the new editing tool can be used to add the missing entry to the index. This is good, in theory. However, the process is highly complex, convoluted, and long -- and the result is an index detail page that initially claims to be restricted ("we can't show this record to you"), and then is ... very strange: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:62XJ-P327.

Notice that the principal's parents are showing under her name as if her name has been corrected twice.

If both entries on an image were skipped, then the tool is unavailable on that image, so neither entry can be added to the index in any form. For example: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9GBH-691?view=index&groupId=M9S8-QML.

Have I simply missed the correct pixel to click on the unindexed image? Is there any chance of the process being simplified, or at least for the error message to actually say what's wrong?

From your first link, I get an image. From your 2nd link, I don't find any way to do anything, as you report.

Was the image possibly restricted for a short time, after you had completed your edit? (Edit to add: confirmed by the later exchange)

Oh, huh, the index page is no longer claiming to be restricted. I wish the message had said to simply wait a bit longer. (I did wait about ten minutes, initially, but it kept saying "we can't", so I decided to believe it. Silly me.)

@Áine Ní Donnghaile, I've edited my question to reflect my current understanding/experience.

I've run into that on another site - the image disappeared for some weeks after I offered an edit.

Someone else made an edit nearly a month ago now, and that record is still generating the "oops, we can't" message.

Link to image editor view: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9TMZ-GR8?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3A6J3W-ZFJY&action=view&groupId=M9DK-F7N

It's the last entry on the page, the delayed birth registration of the boy with eight given names. If I try to go to his index detail page (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6J3W-ZFJ5), it gives the "We're unable to show this record to you" message. Ditto for his parents.

He's missing from the Image Index tab of the catalog's image viewer (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9TMZ-GR8?i=63).

He's there in the search results list (https://www.familysearch.org/search/record/results?count=100&q.filmNumber=%2A5016200%2A&q.surname=W%2A), but clicking either the name or the document icon results in the "we can't" message.

(Weird how Dad's given name was so consistently skipped. All four records clearly say "Gróf Wimpfen Siegfried". I haven't edited any of them, lest they, too, become restricted.)

Just for giggles, Julia, since I'm at my FSC this afternoon, I tried to access the index detail page, and also got the "only on certain accounts" message

@Julia Szent-Györgyi I know this is not a satisfying answer, but the best way to report problems with the "edit everything" option is through the Feedback button on the image viewer pages. This goes directly to the people who are trying to get the editing tool to work as it should. It is on the left margin of every page in the Images part of FamilySearch.

I know that some users are not seeing the Feedback button--perhaps because of browser add-ons or pop-up blockers or who knows what. So, if you are one of those people, let us know and I'll send the feedback in for you.
