I am looking for someone, volunteer or paid, who lives in/near SLC. Someone who can, initially, review a particular CD-ROM held by the FHL. The record is for the Saanen Reformed church, Bern, Switzerland. 18th century. I expect the contents to be

written in 18th century German/Swiss. My initial quest is for two births speculated to be between 1714 and 1725. Suggestions? Note: I do not live for e-mail and this type of format is even more foreign to me. I'll try to check at least once per day. Thanks. Mark

Currently the FHL is closed due to the Covid 19 crises. We do not know when it will reopen so be very patient. I am not in SLC but I am aware there are groups what do this sort of looking for you. Perhaps try google for those groups if no one responds here. I would say many of us are not in SLC.

Unfortunately, there are many records that cannot be accessed in any way at the moment- either in person or online- because they can be only viewed at a FHC or the FHL which are all closed, and this is one of those records. We'll have to wait for the pandemic to end to view those records. In the meanwhile we'll have to focus on records which are accessible online from home computers.

    Guys,

I am aware of the fact that just about everything is shut down. My question was intended to outline the scope of my research so that IF there was someone in/near Salt Lake City, that had the necessary skill & time, then we could further the research goals by phone. It is not my expectation that someone in this community would take my request and attempt to acquire the information by immediately attempting to access the FHL. My guess is that finding someone may take longer than waiting-out the effects of the virus.
