Has the "Compare Person on Family Search" on Ancestry been discontinued?

This is the situation.

Regardless whether I am signed into FamilySearch directly (for the 2 weeks easy sign-in) or through the Church I am having this problem.

For the last several years, I'd typically in ancestry click on the "tree" logo on the top right and if I didn't already connect the person, I'd connect them and then choose "Compare Person on Family Search." My work pattern is to verify or add a source on FamilySearch, then go over to ancestry and bring it over when it is a FamilySearch source unavailable on Ancestry.

The last several weeks I am encountering a problem with this. There is a padlock showing on the "tree logo" that is a pale blue color. Honestly I can't say whether or not I noticed that before. I thought the "tree logo" used to be "green" and it is not; it is actually "white, but I may be mistaken.

The problem I'm actually encountering is that when I choose the "Compare Person on Family Search" function no sources, absolutely none show up on the FamilySearch left side of the webpage. All the Ancestry sources are appearing.

I thought this was an Ancestry issue, so I phoned them this week. I was very surprised at what I was told. They said they made a change and so I need to choose a source on the right hand side of the webpage. Unfortunately, these are Ancestry sources only. The information I was given was incorrect.

Since I had used this function frequently I'm really missing it. Has it been discontinued? Is there something wrong with my FamilySearch settings? I did check everything and Ancestry has all the permissions.

The only thing that I've done recently was I was having problems with the FamilySearch app on the Iphone. I called FamilySearch and they had me sign out and change my password. I then had to sign in again online. I am using Windows 11 on my computer.

I greatly appreciate assistance on this matter. Thank you!

I'm neither LDS nor a paid Ancestry subscriber, so this function is unavailable to me, but it sounds like you need to update something on the Ancestry end so it'll use the correct password when it tries to access your FamilySearch account.

Whenever there is a problem between your Ancestry account and the FamilySearch account, for LDS members, the best advice is to contact FamilySearch, not Ancestry.

Ancestry support, as a rule, is not informed or equipped to handle questions about an LDS account.

    Emily,

I suspect it is simply not logging you in, because you recently changed your password. You may need to unlink your Ancestry account and then go through the process for setting it up again. Click on your profile picture to go to your profile settings. In your Account Settings, look for the Church of Jesus Christ Membership and click the Cancel Membership link.

Then I would log out of Ancestry. Log out of FamilySearch. Clear your cookies and cache in your browser. Then close your browser and reopen it. Log into FamilySearch.

Go to Partner Access and set up your Church of Jesus Christ membership with Ancestry as if you had never had one previously. Let us know if this fixed your problem!
