Here's the page with incomplete index. 2/3 top part of page not indexed. The family I was looking for, was missing the index - so unable to attach to the family. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R48-K5N?i=16&wc=QZF9-KRB%3A648807601%2C648806602%2C648861801%2C1589282437&cc=1810731

If you click to edit any of the existing indexed person records - you will be taken to the newer 'edit every field' feature where you can complete the index for the family you want to attach or the entire remaining page. Review the index of existing families to become familiar with what fields should be indexed.

If you need further help post here in thread and someone should be able to assist. There is a learning curve but it can be done.

None listed for the 2/3 of the families listed on that page. And I do not use indexing app on any mobile. I do all on desktop.

Still not able to index the MISSING portion. Only 2 families actually get indexed. The rest had been skipped, including one family that was between those 2 families

By the way I've been involved in census indexes, at least 1940 and 1950 a great deal so I know something is very wrong with 1930 census, missing families.

View the image again and you will see Wilbur A /Nellie L Feehane have been added. From the Image Index tab you can add as many missing people to the index as you wish.

You are correct. The problems with the US Census collections indexes disappearing has been a problem documented all over Community - for about the past 2 years. I do not know what the problem has been but suspect it is due to the processes which have created this newer 'edit every field' indexing app (it's either that or someone is doing some severe hacking of old indexes that used to exist). This particular page is pretty difficult - so I don't know its history. It has taken me most of the night to figure out Wilbur A/Nellie L surname is Feehan (still can't really read what the census taker wrote - Feahane?)

Ancestry has no problem with the page index, so something is wrong.

I found the portion for adding names, but something is very wrong with that editing. It kept trying to attach to wrong household. I had to cancel and discard.

@W D Samuelsen contact me please This is something that can be fixed by the user, which is great since we don't send records back to be indexed again. The editing of the index is done when viewing the original image through the new editing feature. The easiest way to get there is to use an existing historical record of someone who was indexed, like genthusiast said.

To use the historical record: such as https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R48-K5N

    1. From the image, click the blue Attach for any name listed in the Image Index. This opens the Source Linker.
    2. Above the Person of Record, click on the Record hyperlink. This opens the historical record like https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSYM-4YQ
    3. Click hyperlinks for View Original Document or Edit. This opens the image in the new editing feature. https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:33S7-9R48-K5N?view=index&personArk=%2Fark%3A%2F61903%2F1%3A1%3AXSYM-4YQ&action=view&groupId=TH-1942-22721-9112-20
    4. Next to the Name in the top right, click the back arrow. This gives you a list of persons indexed in this image.
    5. Click +Add to add persons that were missed.

Ancestry's indexes are a completely separate beast; they're totally irrelevant to what's on FS. (Done by different people using different software and different copies of the NARA films hosted on a different company's servers.)

I find the household or family grouping function of the new edit-everything tool to be its most confusing and least-explained part.

Entering relationships into the index does take getting used to in 'edit every field'.
