Why, when I add a marriage that took place in St. Louis, MO, Family Tree always flags the location?
I do extensive family tree research in the St Louis, MO area. For the past few months, whenever I add attach a marriage date and place from the Research Help list on the right of the Person screen, the location is ALWAYS flagged as "Missing Standardized Marriage Place This couple does not have a standardized marriage place." Then I have to click on edit the marriage, erase the last "s" in United States (or any other letter, but the S is easiest) and replace it again - essentially changing nothing - and then the location is accepted as standard. I even tried replacing a letter before I clicked the attach button. Nope, that doesn't work as the location is still flagged as Missing Standardized Marriage Place... I have to go in after attaching and "fix" the location. I don't have this problem when I add marriages from any other location, just from St. Louis. Likewise, births and deaths in St. Louis pose no location problems, just the marriages. It is really annoying and I hope someone can find the glitch in the coding to fix it.

How are you entering the name of the place? "MO" is the United States Postal Service designator for the state of Missouri while the FamilySearch placename is Missouri.
Also - if you are working/typing quickly, the system may not recognize everything you have keyed and return a "missing standardized" message. On occasion, when I type "1860" for example for a year, the system doesn't recognize the last digit and returns a "missing standardized" message for the year.

From the way you describe what you are doing, "attach a marriage date and place from the Research Help list on the right of the Person screen," what you are running into is a well known and oft reported bug in the Source Linker in which sometimes the standard you see on the Source Linker page carries over to the person's Detail page and sometimes it does not.
There's no way to know if they are still working on this bug so that it will be eliminated fully one day or if they are working on a completely new Source Linker and not wasting time fixing the current one.
