Dutch Reformed Church records
Iam reviewing church records from the Dutch Reformed Church, South Africa. In the column labeled Toenaam, besides the surname there are some letters, maybe initials. The person who indexed this record took those to be the initials of a parent. I can't see any indication that that is what they are, and I haven't seen this before. But maybe this person knows something I don't. Was it a practice to indicate the parent's initials in this manner?
