fixing messes that need expertise
Take a look at Elizabeth Richardson LHN5-B57. This started me looking for a quick fix but discovered there were too many quick fixes over the years and even now that have made a much bigger problem. This is the note I put in Discussions, on her page, "Sorry, but this marriage of William Skevington and Elizabeth Richardson is not the beginning of problems but the tail-end. Todays look has her married to William in 1759 and having a bunch of children. She is also married to John Stringer in 1762 and there are children here. After looking I see that this is NO easy fix. I went looking at changes and she was merged at least 6 times. One of these was as the lady who married Stringer. I took a look at John Stringer and that is also a big problem as the daughter listed there was not a Stringer but married one. And the dates are strange also.
Going back to Elizabeth Richardson LHN5-B57 (her last ending #) she was merged with
GKDG-MWL , M97G-M7B, MHXC-DXX, M97L-PQK, MMY4-t7G, MV25-MTP spanning 2013-2023. Somewhere in this mess should be two women of this name who married these different men.
I did a changes look under John Stringer and the Elizabeth showing in his changes also involved M9GH-YH2, GKDL-3KW, M9HX-YH3, GKDL-BDJ, GKDG-MWL.
So what I am saying to the persons trying to fix this now, it is not an easy merge or delete. Doing these now are only making it worse. This is a problem that needs to be "wiped clean" and started right at the bottom and build again from documents. The places these people lived are important. Records now in the sources for these individuals will need to removed wrong persons and be cleaned up as needed. I thought to tackle fixing this but think it should be sent to Familysearch to their 'fix-messes department'. Their expertise is needed with this. I hope those of you understand and agree. "
I could not find any place in this new 'circle w/?' place to send this, so sending here with hope someone will know exactly where this needs to go.
There are too many of these types of tree messes, especially in these early years.. I have learned to fix some but this one is way beyond me.

The only problem with your reasoning is that FamilySearch doesn't have a "fix-messes department". The closest they get is users just like you and me. But posting here in the Community is the best way to reach this non-department; there are people who enjoy these sorts of puzzles, and perhaps one of them will take on yours.
