Sometimes Search tells me how a person is related to my ex-wife, rather than to me.

This has been happening quite often. This information might be of some interest, however when I am trying to determine what my relationship is to someone and Search tells me that the person is the husband of my ex-wife's 7th cousin while ignoring the fact that the person is also my 8th cousin, which would the information that I am naturally interested in, is really frustrating.

Is there some way I can avoid this problem? Can I somehow remove my ex-wife from my Search process?

You can remove your ex-wife as a relationship, if you wish. Here is the link to the Knowledge Article in the Help and Learning Center. https://www.familysearch.org/en/help/helpcenter/article/remove-other-relationships.
