Anybody know a Probate question ??
The following record show a probate being Brighton.
Does this mean what court administered the probate, despite the fact that at this time the person did not live in Brighton.

It's also possible that she owned property in the district but was not currently living there. My GG Aunt still owned property in the UK but died in the USA, after living in the USA for 20 years. Her estate was listed in the probate registry for the UK district where the property was listed, as well as in the US location where she died.

Brighton is a District Probate Registry. If the person lived/died within the Brighton District, the estate would have been administered within that District.

Unfortunately I don't know enough about it all but the residence "41 Sheen Common which is Richmond Surrey, London" and her last residence before she died, doesn't seem like its anywhere near Brighton.
Now I know she did at a time live In Brighton but by Mr Google says its 1 1/2 hours away. So I'm trying to figure out why Brighton and not a district that was clarly closer. I'm sorta wondering if that's where her will was stored, as you say she did live there for a time.

Ohhh and that could be, thanks. I know they did own a house there. Although I dont know when it was sold.

The place in England where probate is granted does not necessarily relate to the place of residence at the time of death, or the individual having any connection at all to the area / town in which the probate office is situated. The same applies to tax offices and from where one obtains a passport. Often, government agencies have offices at locations where the cost of labour (employees' pay) is cheaper!

Right and or where the government wants votes and wants to increase employment.
