attaching a census to a different person than it's indexed for

There is a 1950 census attached to ID # LRS3-JVM, George Laurence Cunningham. I attached it, but it was already indexed. (I don't know how to index these, by the way.) His brother Richard M. Cunningham, ID # LRS3-VS6, is the next family listing on the same page of the census, but the census isn't showing up on Richard's page as a possible source.

I'd like to add it to Richard's page, but when I try to do that, it has George's name as the one the census is indexed for. So I know I'm not doing something right. How can I correctly attach this census to Richard's page?

Also, is indexing just a small part of a census, like in this situation, something I can do? Or is that a way more complicated process?

Thank you :)

    Richard's index detail page: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:6FSX-QS3P

Yes, indexing is a complex process that's completely separate from attaching the published results to Tree profiles, but the new "correct anything" feature that's being deployed on the 1950 census is certainly blurring the lines. The interface is confusing enough that I'm not entirely certain how I got from George's entry to Richard's; perhaps someone with a bit more experience with it can explain.

But perhaps what's most relevant to your question is that the indexing has already been done; you don't need to do anything with it, unless there are errors that you want to correct -- but that's optional, because the index is not the data. It's merely a finding aid for the data, and you've already found it.

Thank you so much! I was able to go directly to his index page and attach the record to him and his family.
