Family tree
I am trying to create a family tree using deceased and non-deceased individuals. Why can't the living people only be seen by me? What happens when they die and no one changes them to deceased? It doesn't make sense that they cannot be seen by whoever looks at my family tree. I need help understanding this.

Why? Strict privacy regulations and laws in hundreds of countries around the world. Some of which have fines of thousands of dollars per day for a privacy violation as simple as pointing out that someone exists without that person's express permission.
What happens to them? FamilySearch has never come out with an declaration of their plans. At this point, try to keep up to date on their lives. You are the only one that can mark them deceased. This is why some people here never put more than a person's name as a place holder if that person is alive. Other's put in full information and tons of memories assuming that at some point FamilySearch will declare their intentions. At worst it could be something like marking anyone deceased whose profile in Family Tree was created more than 110 years ago. Even if there was a birth date error that person couldn't still be alive.
